There are two types of programs available to our students at Tarneit Senior College:
Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) OR
Victorial Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)
Students make a choice between these two programs based around their career object and the learning that best suits their needs.
Students participating in the VCE are provided with an opportunity to design a program consisting of a variety of subject to suit their interests and pathway requirements. In addition to English or EAL, students are able select from a variety of subjects and/or a VET subject. Students completing a VET as part of their VCE will gain a certificate II or above in addition to their VCE.
Students who select the VCE program are prepared for:
Entry into university or tafe courses .
Employment.

Students participating in the VCAL are provided with an opportunity to undertake subjects that provide them with opportunity to develop employability skills and knowledge through both practical projects and learning tasks. This program strongly supports students in becoming job ready, gaining practical and hands on experience with Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) throughout their senior years.
All students undertake five compulsory subjects, including a VET certificate.
Literacy
Numeracy
Personal Development Skills
Work Related Skills
VET (Student Choice, depending on their chosen career pathway)
Students who select the VCAL program are prepared for:
Continued further study in a TAFE course
Finding a potential apprenticeship or traineeship
Employment
