MEET THE PRINCIPALS

Shane Cole-Hayhow

College Principal

On behalf of the community of Tarneit Senior College, I welcome your interest in our school and invite you to learn more about us.

As a growing school, we are committed to providing exciting learning experiences that are aimed at meeting each student at his or her academic, social and pathway point of need.  Ours is a school that focuses on developing the whole child and seeks to provide a range of opportunities, both in and outside the classroom, for each student to unlock his or her potential and reach their pathway destination.

To be a Tarneit Senior College student is to be respectful, focused, and innovative and learn with integrity. As a school we aim to learn together and to celebrate each success and we firmly believe that, with our support, students can grow into adults that can make a real difference in our wider community.

Tarneit Senior College is a government school, providing for students from Year 10 through to Year 12 only. Through a comprehensive curriculum, together with the extensive range of post-compulsory pathways (VCE, VET & VCAL), we cater for the needs of all students through their final years of schooling. Our innovative teaching and learning practices and student leadership and personal development programs ensure that our students are well prepared to cope with the broad demands that society places on young people now and into the future.

We have an extensive ‘Student Well-being’ structure throughout the school and our staff apply a restorative approach on a daily basis. This involves maintaining a focus on building positive relationships and establishing a supportive environment that is fair and consistent. This enables us to effectively monitor and support all students in regard to their individual and collective needs.

I am proud to be the leader of a college with such amazing facilities that provides excellent programs for our students. I hope that as you explore our website, you gain an insight into the extensive opportunities available to all students of Tarneit Senior College. Such opportunities are the result of a caring, dedicated and talented team of staff, who work closely together to support students to achieve their best, and staff who value highly the success of every individual.

We look forward to working with our community to ensure that every child takes every opportunity to make a positive difference in their own life and the lives of our community.
