Year 10 Technical Subjects

Technical Literacy and Technical Numeracy are compulsory subjects at Year 10. Both subjects compliment our Core English and Core Maths subjects. For detailed information on these subjects please refer to the Tarneit Senior College Handbook.

Technical Literacy

  • Course Description

Technical Literacy focuses on developing the literacy skills needed for success both at the senior level of schooling, but also for life beyond school. Students will develop active reading techniques that support them to comprehend the texts used within school and further study, but also in day-to-day life. Students will be introduced to and practise the critical senior school vocabulary used in assessment tasks across subjects and in exams. Students will also develop an understanding of and practice the technical skills of writing and will engage in a range of writing tasks to develop their writing confidence and competence. Students in this subject undertake classroom based activities organised by skill level. Progress is assessed in terms of development of skills that are relevant to each class group.
